BLEACH* FESTIVAL, CITY OF GOLD COAST – DIVISION 14, BOND UNIVERSITY, CONNECTING SOUTHERN GOLD COAST AND THE STRAND PRESENT SALTWATER SESSIONS.
“Saltwater Sessions and Churaki Hill will lay the foundations for a bigger story that Bleach* Festival will continue to uncover with our local Indigenous community. Our intention is to really bring out our shared love of the ocean and how this love of the water evokes amazing examples of triumph and celebration.” – Bleach* Festival Artistic Director Louise Bezzina
As the sun reflects over crashing waves, enjoy an afternoon of performances that celebrate a uniting force in all of us: saltwater. This beachside concert features some of Australia’s very best musicians and visual artists, who all share a love of the ocean and coastal lifestyle.
Featuring Dope Lemon (Angus Stone), Ash Grunwald, Tia Gostelow, Emily Wurramara as well as a special welcome performance from Kyle Slabb, Jaali Inc and Fred Leone, this program is a collaboration across cultures, with a focus on celebrating local Aboriginal people’s connection to country and the spirit of the surf.
Visual installations by Libby Harward, Chantal Henley, Christine Slabb and artists from the City of Gold Coast South Stradbroke Island Indigenous Artist Camp will infuse the event with contemporary and traditional reflections of saltwater country.
