This month, Mayor Tom Tate and Graham Quirk take a few minutes to share what events are coming up in the Gold Coast and Brisbane, and what they most look forward to!
“Brisbane has been very busy over the last few months! We’ve celebrated the EKKA, the 10th Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival, Brisbane Festival and the spectacular Riverfire closing night. As the weather continues to warm up there is no better time to enjoy our beautiful sub-tropical climate and active outdoor lifestyle. I encourage our community to take advantage of free events at Council venues, including Twilight Yoga (in the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens), Pilates in the Park, or one of Council’s park walks/runs. I invite you to explore everything Brisbane has to offer as a creative, vibrant new world city!” – Lord Mayor Brisbane, Graham Quirk
“Many residents and visitors enjoy the GC600 V8 race, which dominates the October calendar each year. We need to remain an ‘events city’ to compete with other destinations, and as Mayor, I am constantly seeking out new events and activities that can position our city on the tourism/sport destination map. In fact, we actually host more than 600 events annually, from local soccer carnivals to the recent XCAT powerboat race series!” – Lord Mayor Gold Coast, Tom Tate
